Giant Walker – ‘All In Good Time’ (Self-Released)

For Jase W, one of the main benefits about writing for someone about your main passion is that you often find all sorts of bizarre and wonderful stuff landing in your lap and Giant Walker is no exception to this. Stating that they’ve got a shared love for bands such as Karnivool, Soundgarden, Radiohead and Deftones who are all bands he holds in pretty high regard, the chance to listen to something heavily influenced by these sorts of acts is something he absolutely had to get his teeth into.

Badflower/’68/Brkn Love – Charlotte NC, The Underground – 14 April 2022

It was another night of glorious rock and roll as hard rockers Badflower played a sold-out show at The Underground Charlotte on the ‘This Is How The World Ends’ tour. Horn – ‘Verzet’ (Self-Released)

Horn was formed as a solo project in 2003 by Niklas and is a solitary musical undertaking up to the present day. What has remained throughout the course of nine studio albums is the distinct “Horn” sound, featuring siren-like lead guitars, classical black metal-styled vocals as well as clean chorals and a serious folkloristic approach far from the jolly drunken Viking tunes celebrated these days.

His third gig this past weekend after returning from an escapade in London saw Jase W returning to Manchester and making a mad dash across town for the doors at Rebellion for tech death stalwarts Fit For An Autopsy. The doors were at 6pm to allow for changeovers with this absolutely STACKED line-up featuring Great American Ghost, Ingested, Enterprise Earth and Sentinels. Good thing he’d not forgotten his earplugs today and booked the next day off work because this was going to ruin him…

Metal 2 The Masses NI Grand Final – Belfast, Voodoo – 6 May 2022

Monk has to admit that he has something of a love/hate relationship with the annual Metal 2 The Masses “battle of the bands”-style competition. Having been involved as a judge for the past seven years, he loves the fact that it has, in that period, introduced him to so many great new bands, and continues to open my eyes (and ears) to some incredible young (and, in some cases, not so young) talent, showing, year on year, what a massive pool of the stuff we have in this particular corner of the Überverse.
