As the rays of light at the end of the dark tunnel that has been the past 18 months of isolation and generally being shit upon from great heights grow brighter by the day, and life starts to return to some sense of normality, a healthy slew of new music, perhaps more than at any other time in ÜR’s history, continues to ping itself our way, and especially in the continuing tsunami of submissions we receive for our coveted ‘Video Of The Week’ award… Yes, as we’ve said on multiple occasions, one constant throughout the Covidications of the recent past has been the amazing level of adaptive creativity that bands and video directors the length and breadth of the Überverse have continued to show, often in the most adverse of circumstances.
After viewing all of the entries – and, yes, I did watch every one of the almost 140 submissions we received this week – at the end of the day (or night, depending on where you are in the Überverse), there could be only one winner… And this week, it is the beautifully tongue in cheek clip from one of our favourite hair metal revivalists, Mr John Diva and his Rockets Of Love, who are helping us kick off our favourite month of the year with the timely latest single to be lifted from their highly entertaining, ÜR-approved second album, ‘American Amadeus’. And we can think of no better way to kick off the Halloween season than with this sumptuously shot video, with its reverential nod to classic clips such as ‘Girls Girls Girls’.
We must give shout out to Converge, and their new collaborative effort with Chelsea Wolfe, and Mastodon, who were leading the pack for this week’s award until this excellent show-stealer popped onto our laptop… but, to coin a phrase, all’s fair in love and rock ‘n’ roll and there can be only one winner… Until next week, keep ‘er lit, keep ‘er between the hedges and keep on rockin’ \m/
