We continue to receive a veritable tsunami of video clips – another 150+ of them in the past week alone – being sent our way in a bid to be the latest recipient of the coveted title and virtual gong of being named our favourite…
Believe me, we do watch all of the submissions, and, apart from those which don’t meet our criteria – i.e., no lyric videos, no straight performance clips and no “playthroughs” – most of them are of an extremely high quality, but there can only ever be one winner… And, to that end, this week’s selection comes from self-styled “hipster poser thrashers” Belushi Speed Ball and their hysterical clip for new single ‘Magic Conch’, which reflects its title by being a glorious in(s)ane homage to the mighty Spongebob Squarepants.
Speaking about the video, BSB’s manager Senõr Diablo told us a bit more about it and the song, which features a guest shredding performance from former GWAR guitarist Jamison ‘Beefcake’ Land:
“Now that we tricked Jamison into the band with promises of eating gravy from Lita Ford’s toe crevices, we knew we had to write something magical. Thus, what’s more magical then the care-free Nick toon ’90s, full of stop motion bumper reels, cats connected to dog butts, ecto-coolers, and magical conches which can help you survive the woods? Director Beau Kaelin captured that feel-good dopamine nostalgia every millennial is addicted to!”
‘Magic Conch’ is taken from BSB’s forthcoming new album, ‘What, Us Worry?’, which, in addition to all the usual formats, will also be available on N64 and Gameboy Advanced!
