Having relocated from Berlin to Stockholm in 2016, where she teamed up with Nicke Andersson (of The Hellacopters, Entombed, Imperial State Electric fame) for her second album, ultimately released two years later, Johanna Sadoni laid down a defiant marker for the blues-doom sub-genre, proving that it was possible to evoke the spirit of godfathers such as Black Sabbath with the psychedelic overtones of the likes of Blue Öyster Cult, the folksiness of early Heart – and still make it sound fresh, modern and relevant.
