Pain Of Salvation – ‘Panther’ (InsideOut Music)

Pain Of Salvation are a relatively new band to Jase W’s ears. We know, we know – their first album was released over two decades ago and he’s an uncultured swine, but you got to find a band at some point though, haven’t you? They first crossed our tech wizard’s path when they played Manchester’s Club Academy back in 2018 but he never really got round to giving them a proper listen despite a few friends of his singing their praises quite loudly. It wasn’t until he decided to sit and watch the music video for ‘Accelerator’ ,which is the first track from the forthcoming album, ‘Panther’ that he really got invested in checking out more of their stuff – it’s a pretty weird video itself but man, there’s something about the swell to a crescendo that really caught his attention… that and the “mad synths”!

NOFX have been up there with Jonny B’s favourite bands for years, with their short snappy songs and super relatable songs about generally just being a fucked-up waster, it was a soundtrack to his teens. Finding out they had some new tunes coming out got him all excited to get back into that frame of his mind, but it turns out this isn’t just another NOFX release. Instead this is a collaboration with Frank Turner, who isn’t the dude who has a band called The Rattlesnakes (he can’t be the only one to make that mistake, right?), where they cover each other’s songs and put their own unique twist on them…
