Seasick Steve – ‘Love & Peace’ (Self-Released)

If you were to type the term “force of nature” into a musical lexicon, one of the references which would immediately be flagged in the glossary undoubtedly would be the name of Seasick Steve. No matter the vagaries, contradictions or inaccuracies (or otherwise) of his storied biography, there is no doubt that, over the past decade and a half, he has undoubtedly established himself as one of the most distinctive, honest and respected – not to mention remarkable – voices in the modern blues, a point he emphasizes, with typical alacrity and authority on this, his tenth solo album.

Avatar – ‘Hunter Gatherer’ (Century Media)

For a band that are now on their eighth album, it doesn’t seem so long ago that Avatar actually started coming more into the more mainstream recognition that their releases have deserved. VIDEO OF THE WEEK – FISH

Despite the ongoing lockdown in many parts of the Überverse, we are still receiving a healthy bundle of submissions for our coveted ‘Video Of The Week’ title. Many of them are produced against the background of continuing quarantine conditions in some countries, while others reflect artists being able to return and flex their creative muscles once again. We have only one video for you this week, and the reason will be very obvious. It comes from prog rock legend Fish and the haunting, poignant and reflective video for the powerful and highly emotional ‘Garden Of Remembrance’, the second single to be lifted from the singer’s forthcoming final solo album, ‘Weltschmerz’ which will be released on 25 September.
