It’s our favourite time of the year here at ÜRHQ – Halloween weekend! Yes, we know All Hallow’s Eve itself was yesterday, but in true pagan tradition we carry on proceedings until the veil between the worlds closes once again at the end of All Souls Day – which means that, of course, we need some suitable audio and visual treats to accompany DQ’s rituals and ceremonies… And who better to provide the soundtrack to all things spooktacular than either the master of the grotesque, the one and only Rob Zombie, or the original duke of spook, Wednesday 13? Or even better – both of them? Yep, both artists delivered brand new songs, and suitably horror-filled videos, right on the cusp of the season, so we thought it only fair to include both of them in this week’s suitably themed feature…

Ah, here we are… our favourite time of year here at ÜRHQ: Halloween (although there are those who would argue that it is Halloween all year ‘round, what with the amount of dragons, skulls and other assorted paraphernalia that adorns the place). And what better way to mark the occasion than with a magical soundtrack that takes its inspiration from ancient Germanic folklore and features tales of vampires, witches, zombies and other assorted beautiful creatures? King King – ‘Maverick’ (Channel 9 Music)

Being rather late to the King King trail, David O’Neill is essentially listening to much of their back catalogue as a result of their tour at the beginning of last year (2019).  Following the band reshuffle this is the first offering since the acclaimed ‘Exile and Grace’ (2017). Well, we suppose this year would be as good as any to record new music as there is little chance of any live music, especially on the back of such a big band reshuffle with Alan Nimmo being the only original member now left.
