We continue to receive a veritable tsunami of video clips – another 150+ of them in the past week alone – being sent our way in a bid to be the latest recipient of the coveted title and virtual gong of being named our favourite…
Believe me, we do watch all of the submissions, and, apart from those which don’t meet our criteria – i.e., no lyric videos, no straight performance clips and no “playthroughs” – most of them are of an extremely high quality, but there can only ever be one winner… And, to that end, this week’s selection comes from a band who prove that the flame of NWoBHM is very much burning brightly and its sound is as loud as ever.
Nightblade are about to release the third in a trilogy of albums which have seen them defy the limitations of the pandemic by recording and issuing one every year since 2020’s ‘Ignorance Is Bliss’. The final chapter, the aptly titled ‘Hope To Be There’, is due to drop in September, and they are opening the salvo of promo activity with the first single, on which they are asking us to tell them how to cope with the travails of life, as epitomized in the gloriously tongue-in-cheek video, which features a superbly delivered homage to Michael Douglas’ William Foster character in a brilliantly character-driven clip with a suitably optimistic twist at the end:
