Artwork for Symphony Of Mind by Pinnacle PointI rarely hear something and I find it totally unique, while still being well-grounded. While I would say this is very much inspired by the ‘80s – and often that is a hard era to draw inspiration from and still be unique, as it is often that people fall into a rut and end up just copying – I’m not sure it would fit right in back then. While it is clearly inspired by the era, it also manages to be something new that I have not ever really heard anything like before. It is a masterpiece in uniqueness.

Taking that ‘80s rock base and adding in what I guess you would call symphonic elements was genius. There is so much variety all throughout every track. Especially with the instrumentation. It would have never crossed my mind how well a violin would work with this style of music. Sure the piano and the electric organ are a little more common in the style but even that feels different and is used in unique ways. One of my favorite genres is symphonic metal so I am a sucker for a violin but taking that symphonic element and marrying it to the more upbeat sounds of that ‘80s rock style was brilliant.

The vocals are a perfect match for the music. Jerome Mazza really sells that ’80s powerful vocal style. He manages to tie everything up in a perfect little bow on top of already wonderful music. Admittedly I don’t have too much to say specifically about the vocals because they are exactly what you would expect and a perfect example of them. Just listen to the video included in the article and instantly you will be like “yup that is what he should sound like”.

This album is so good I am honestly having a hard time writing about it. It is that feeling when you like something so much that it is hard to put into words what you are feeling. That is how I feel about this album. Every second of it is a masterpiece and I loved it. Just go buy it. Then buy it for your friend too. I need more. Hell, this is the first time that while writing the review I went looking to see if there were t-shirts available especially with that album art on it. I never do that. You owe it to yourself to get your hands on this album. It is both wonderfully nostalgic and completely new at the same time.
