It’s an exciting day for Jonny B as he’s been following this band for years! In fact, he can clearly remember the first time that he came across Orden Ogan… It was in this midst of one of those hangovers from hell, that were all too common at uni, and and his mates were following their usual tradition of flicking through songs on YouTube and trying to muster up the courage to be human again. That’s when JB found the video for ‘We Are Pirates’ which has been stuck in his regular playlist ever since… So there was absolutely no hesitation when he was given the chance to get an advanced listen of the new album ‘Final Days’…

Well, 2021 may somehow have managed to stagger and stumble to the midpoint of its second month, but already it is looking as if it as going be as much of a shitstorm of a year, if not more so, than its predecessor, with the Government apparently losing the war with the pan(dem)ic and “fighting back” with renewed, and even more stringent, lockdowns in place the length and breadth of the Über Kingdom (and beyond). But, with BoJo’s much vaunted pathway out of the crisis still some way off, and the summer festival season already in severe doubt following the cancellation of Glastonbury and other events looking set to fall like the proverbial dominos, at least 2021 is sharing something more positive in common with 2020, in that it already has produced some terrific new music, with the promise of plenty more to come, if the if the inbox here at ÜRHQ is anything to go by…

The music industry in Northern Ireland won something of a hollow victory earlier yesterday (Friday 12 February), when it emerged that legislation banning live performances has, in fact, lapsed. However, in a Catch-22 situation, venues remain closed under continuing restrictions imposed by the Northern Ireland Executive as part of the continuing fight against COVID-19.

If someone had described this album to Jonn B before he heard it, he would have never picked it up. “Noise Rock” is not something that sounds appealing to him, so he has mostly avoided the genre – but if our man reckons that if he had skipped this one he would have been missing out. This is so much better than what he had envisioned in his head or had experienced in the past. He expected things to be very chaotic and incoherent, like how his parents used to describe his music taste when he was a kid. Instead, what we have here is a very complete and enjoyable experience…
