While many folk were going mad this past Sunday with the indulgence of chocolate eggs and such like, Jonny B was indulging in his own cravings in a very different way by settling down for an evening with Ihsahn. Now, you may have realized that Ihsahn was pretty busy in 2020 with the release of not one, but two fantastic EPs that we’ve yet to have the pleasure of hearing live. Fortunately, that all changed with a pretty packed live event ahead promising both EPs to be played in full! So, JB got himself dressed up in his finest black band T-shirt (well, the cleanest anyway), cracked open a can of delicious booze, and got himself cosy in the lounge for the spectacle ahead….

Regular ÜR readers may well be aware that this website, and boss man Monk in particular, have had something of a storied relationship with Acid Age over the years. You could call it something of a love/hate thing: they love the fact that we hate them, and we hate to, deep down, love them. At one stage we placed them at one pinnacle of the unholy trinity of the three worst thrash bands on the island of Ireland; but, unlike some of their counterparts, they have always taken that mock adulation fairly and squarely on the chin, and in recent years have emphatically risen to the challenge of proving me wrong… something which is exemplified further on this, their fourth album (and their first in five years) – and their most ambitious to date…

Chances are you may not have heard of The Limit yet, but you should be familiar with some of the names that make up this new ‘supergroup’ of punk, rock and doom heavyweights. Take Sonny Vincent, enigmatic legend of the early NYC punk scene with his band Testors, veteran bassist Jimmy Recca, who had stints with The Stooges and Ron Asheton’s New Order, add Hugo Conim and Pedro Ventura from Portuguese doom merchants Dawnrider and you’ve got quite a line-up there. Top it all off with vocals from the legendary Bobby Liebling, main man of doom pioneers Pentagram, and you’ve got something special on your hands. Here you have The Limit, and ‘Cavemen Logic’ is their first offering.
