Normally, I am not a big fan of live recordings as it is common for the quality of the recording to not be up to the standard I like from studio recording. Thankfully, this is becoming less and less true thanks to modern recording methods. I am very happy to say that the quality here is outstanding and therefore I was able to really experience the album without distraction. So, the question then is, is this an album worth your time to seek out and experience? Yes, it is.
I really loved the way they used many different instruments and tones to create a unique sound. Ranging from some more traditional sounds for the genre complemented by electronic tones from the keyboard at times or a bluesy guitar tone or a traditional piano tone. All of this comes together to make a really enjoyable and unique tone with a lot of evolution across the experience. You can’t help but love this. It tells a story and really engages you. I bet it was a lot of fun live.
The vocals consist of a male primary lead singer (Tom de Wit) complemented by a female secondary lead singer (Radina Dimcheva) and followed up bybackup vocals. Obviously, by that description, there are a lot of layers to the vocals here and I love it. I love it when you have a male and female duet. The two natural tones complement each other so well. The male lead vocals are extremely clean and have nearly no breakup at all. If I were to complain about anything at all it would be this. I would have liked a little texture to the tone of his voice but that is only minor personal taste. Normally I would not even mention it, but it is the only negative I have. All in all, though he is a great singer and complements the unique style of the music wonderfully. The female vocals are spot on. Her voice is really pleasant, and even comforting.
So, after all that, if you are still unsure whether you should pick up this album or if you should check out Dreamwalkers Inc live if given the chance then I don’t know what to tell you. It seems like a no brainer to me. This is a wonderful experience and I really wish I could have been there for the live show when this was recorded. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up.
