Death Blooms – ‘You Are Filth’ (Self-Released)

The latest shining hope of British metalcore, Death Blooms already made some waves with the release of their self-titled debut EP back in 2017. Possessing a clear ear for massive choruses and the canny sense to sidestep the formulaic trappings of modern metalcore (read: they don’t write whole songs based around breakdowns – that can be all the difference sometimes, folks), the band set their sights on conquering the metal scene along the same routes as fellow UK metalcore acts Bury Tomorrow, While She Sleeps or Architects. Following on from that first EP, the band return with ‘You Are Filth’ – a release which lands just in time for their first ever headline run in England.

Shotgun Sawyer – ‘Bury the Hatchet’ (Ripple Music)

Formed in 2015 as the culmination of jam sessions and open mic nights, trio Shotgun Sawyer are returning for a follow up to 2016’s debut album ‘Thunderchief’. With an eclectic mix of influences, the three-piece look to provide a heavy electrified take on the Delta blues. One of the aspects that the band are hoping will make this album stand out from the crowd is its raw energy. According to singer/guitarist Dylan Jarman, the nine tracks on offer were recorded live in the studio with no additional overdubs and onto analogue equipment.

Black Oak County – ‘Theatre Of The Mind’ (Mighty Music)

Denmark’s Black Oak County are back with a brand-new album titled ‘Theatre Of The Mind’.   The album was recorded in Hansen Studio owned by Jacob Hensen (Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, Volbeat) and is due to be unleashed on 26 April.  The band first formed as a quartet in June 2012 and within the first couple of years they had played and headlined some major festivals in Denmark.  This latest release follows on from their debut self-titled album in 2017 and although the wait has been long since then, has it been worth it?
