UK Subs – ‘Work In Progress’ (Captain Oi!/Cherry Red)

To this day, UK Subs remain one of the most authentic, enduring and beloved of all the original punk bands, with main man Charlie Harper considered a ‘godfather’ and national treasure of the punk movement these days. They still play great shows, and still put out great records. Of course, one of the things they were known for is going through the alphabet with the album titles, and by 2011 they had got to the letter ‘W’, with ‘Work In Progress’. The album has not been available on vinyl since its original release, so the good people at Cherry Red have rectified that with a welcome vinyl reissue on double 10” gold and silver vinyl.

Scarlata – ‘Power Through’ (Self-Released)

As a teen, Jonny B always fancied himself a bit of a skater, even though he was pretty terrible at it… but naturally he also gravitated towards that specific flavour of punk that adorned the soundtrack of many a Tony Hawk’s game, so much so that it’s still a regular staple in his music listening to this day. Heriot – ‘Profound Morality’ EP (Church Road Records)

Heriot have been causing quite a bit of stir over the last couple of years, Jase W had the privilege to interview them prior to their support slot for Rolo Tomassi at Manchester’s Club Academy a while back and has been waiting patiently for their forthcoming debut EP since being blown away by their terrifying performance. FESTIVAL NEWS: Tech-Fest adds more names to “stacked” line-up

Jase W’s new “home away from home” festival, ÜK Tech-Fest, has dropped another bunch of bands, ranging from the eclectic to the Manchester home turfers – and his excitement is only getting ever bigger for this! It’s been two long years of absence, but Tech-Fest has weathered the storm, what with managing to get a couple of all-dayers in here and there and numerous online streams.
