The theatrical gothic shock rockers are preparing to open the final chapter in the chronicles of serial killer Psychoberrie, unleashing the lunatics into the asylim as they declare that #BloodIsTheNewBlack on this first extract:

F*CK. WE’RE BROKEN. Well, almost. Yes, it’s been one helluva month here at ÜRHQ, what with it managing to cram in five weekends… yes, you read that right: FIVE BIG MASSIVE MUTHAFUCKIN’ ROCKIN’ ‘N’ ROLLIN’ WEEKENDS! In one month. HELL, it should be more than the body can take… or should be allowed to take… but, hey, we’re rock ‘n’ roll to the core and it takes no excuse for us to fire up the deathdecks, turn the amps up to maximum, mix up a few of our favourite cocktails and set some of the hottest sounds around a spinnin’ for your delectation and enjoyment. So, in the immortal words of da bruvas – hey, ho, let’s go…

Well, it’s only a few days until our favourite night of the year – even though we’ve already attended our first fancy dress ball of the season – and so we’re throwing open the doors for this special edition of the Singles Club featuring some of the spookiest and, it has to be admitted, loosely Halloween-themed tunes that have been bothering our death decks in the lead up to All Soul’s Eve… so, let’s dive into the big gooey cauldron of rock ‘n’ roll fangtasticness, shall we? OK, if you insist…

The summer may be dragging what’s left of its sorry ass to its inevitable conclusion, with the sun cream left to rot on the shelf for another year, but the temperature inside the Singles Club has always been HOT, as our latest opening proves with another batch of the catchiest earworms and hardest hitting ‘bangers to have come our way over the past couple of weeks… so, let’s stick the needle in thon there grooves and get on with the musical action, shall we?

‘Way back in the day, my predecessors at the towering sonic inferno that is ÜRHQ produced a range of merchandise that ironically declared “Über Rock Hates Your Band”. Somewhere in their wardrobe, one of the members of this Bristol-based quartet may well possess one of those iconic (and now much coveted) baseball caps and taken it as an influence for the equally ironic title of this, the second track in succession from their upcoming Wayne and Garth inflected new EP to blast straight to the top of our #SinglesClub playlist:

It had been more than a few hot minutes since we had reunited the ÜRHQ tag team and climbed the hallowed stairs of our favourite venue, but what better excuse to take a trip into the darkened heart of Belfast city’s back streets than this promisory note of a double bill, headlined by one of the most exciting young bands I have heard in a long time, making their first venture across the Irish border to the northern capital.

Monk’s latest choice cut comes from the heartland that spawned this very site, the valleys of south Wales, where rock ‘n’ roll sensations Scarlet Rebels are reminding us how beautiful it is to be alive and enjoy the music we love so much…

“The Twelfth”, as it is known in the tiny corner of the Uberverse we call home, is best known for bands of a different variety, but it seems somewhat inanely appropriate that Monk should choose a band from just down the road from ÜRHQ as my latest pick of the pops, as this veggie punk quartet from the town that also birthed the highly over-rated Snore Patrol feed us some #LeafyGreens with their latest tasty dish.

This second single from the new-look ÜS metalcore ghouls pummels the listener with blast beats and buzz saw riffs while at the same time seeing them continuing their relentless sense of exploration, via an arrangement carries through sonic twists and turns that highlight the band’s explorative writing style.

By this point Jase W is convinced that there’s something in the water (or the beer – Ed) in Australia. The sheer amount of incredible bands that are just on the unusual side of things seem to be popping out of there like hot cakes and the aptly bizarrely named band, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, is another good example. And finally after the rescheduling of the show earlier this year, our European correspondent get to see them at the rather lovely Paradiso venue supported by an equally oddball named band, FEET. It’s all going to be a bit of an odd one tonight by the looks.
