The Uber Rock Approved stampIt’s our favourite time of the year here at ÜRHQ – Halloween weekend! Yes, we know All Hallow’s Eve itself was yesterday, but in true pagan tradition we carry on proceedings until the veil between the worlds closes once again at the end of All Souls Day – which means that, of course, we need some suitable audio and visual treats to accompany DQ’s rituals and ceremonies…

And who better to provide the soundtrack to all things spooktacular than either the master of the grotesque, the one and only Rob Zombie, or the original duke of spook, Wednesday 13? Or even better – both of them? Yep, both artists delivered brand new songs, and suitably horror-filled videos, right on the cusp of the season, so we thought it only fair to include both of them in this week’s suitably themed feature…

First up, we have the Zombster himself, and his outrageous new offering, the ever-brilliantly titled ‘The Triumph of King Freak (A Crypt of Preservation and Superstition)’ as the first taster from his seventh studio album, the equally eloquently titled ‘The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Cosnpiracy’, which is penned for a 12 March release (umm, just in time for my birthday – now there’s a coincidence!). Both the song and the video are exactly what you would expect from Zombie, which both all the more glorious saturation of your senses:

By an act of apparent happenstance (or maybe not), one of the true heirs to Zombie’s title as the god of gruesomeness, Wednesday 13 this weekend also unleased his ‘Devil Inside’, with a suitably twisted reworking of the INXS classic. The video was premiered during last night’s livestream from the legendary Whiskey A-Go-Go, and isn’t officially released until tomorrow, but our special CSI-trained web busters have managed to grab an early copy for your entertainment:

The Halloween theme continues with Atlanta glunksters Starbenders taking a slight sideways step with their hypnotic and revelatory clarion call, ‘Bitches Be Witches’. Melding Seventies glitter with Eighties glam, Nineties new wave and traditional metal miens, the foursome prove once again why they are one of the most exciting up-and-coming rock ‘n’ roll prospects in the Überverse, fronted by one of the most charismatic women in the business:

Our final seasonal offering comes from the terrific Johnny Nocash and The Celtic Outlaws, who cement their reputation as one of the leading lights of the “death country” genre with their fantastic new single, ‘Burned Alive’, which is equally parts retrospection and hopefulness, and accompanied by a suitably brooding, yet enervating, video clip:

Well, there you go. That’s your lot for this week. Until next Sunday, keep ‘er lit, keep ‘er between the hedges and #StayTheFuckSafe…
