Well, it’s our very favourite day of the year, on which the veil between the worlds is briefly lowered and the spirits come back to join the living in the best party in the Überverse… not, that we need any excuse to break out the spirits and get the party started, never mind dress up in stupid costumes and get up to ghoulish goings-on… that’s pretty standard procedure any day of the week/month/year here at ÜRHQ… But, to stand alongside our special edition of the Singles Club, we thought it only natural for our Video Of The Week selection have a suitably Halloween theme to it…
And, to that end, our title winner this week comes from Mancunian alternative electro-rock duo Shape Of Water and their suitably supernatural-tinged and haunting clip for new single ‘A Ghost In Manchester’.
“[It] is a metaphor representing the acceptance of the ghosts of our past as part of ourselves,” says vocalist Rox Capriotti of the song.
Guitarist Luca De Falco, who also directed the clip, adds:
“I actually didn’t write the lyrics for this song. They were dictated to me by a ghost near St. Ann’s Square, in Manchester. That’s why we chose that location for the video shoot as well!“
- ‘A Ghost In Manchester’ is part of a double A-sided single, which also features a cover of The Chordettes’ ‘Mr Sandman’.
- Shape Of Water play The Soundhouse in Leicester on Friday 26 November.
