The Uber Rock Approved stampAs the rays of light at the end of the dark tunnel that has been the past 18 months of isolation and generally being shit upon from great heights grow brighter by the day, and life starts to return to some sense of normality, a healthy slew of new music, perhaps more than at any other time in ÜR’s history, continues to ping itself our way, and especially in the continuing tsunami of submissions we receive for our coveted ‘Video Of The Week’ award… Yes, as we’ve said on multiple occasions, one constant throughout the Covidications of the recent past has been the amazing level of adaptive creativity that bands and video directors the length and breadth of the Überverse have continued to show, often in the most adverse of circumstances.

After viewing all of the entries – and, yes, I did watch every one of the almost 140 submissions we received this week – at the end of the day (or night, depending on where you are in the Überverse), there could be only one winner… And this week, it comes from Cambridge hard rockers Planet Fatale and their hard-hitting – literally – clip for new single ‘Fight Club’, which is taken from their debut album, ‘The Cycle Repeats’.

The band told us a bit more about both the song and the video:

This is a high energy track, full of heavy, driving guitars, pounding bass and relentless drums, and it’s a favourite of ours to play live. It’s also a track that came with an embedded narrative. The lyrics tell the story of someone down on their luck who is offered an opportunity too good to be true. The video idea kinda wrote itself!

“We worked with the fantastic Marianne Harris again on the official music video, which was hands down the biggest video production we have done to date. We recruited MMA fighters and a load of extras for various roles, plus wrote in a special role for each band member, and the final video really does exude that raw energy we feel in the track. It’s a full on narrative video with brutal fight scenes, an elite underground fighting ring and some band performance thrown in for good measure! A lot of fun to film this one!
