Chosen by Monk

The Uber Rock Approved stampWell, here at ÜRHQ we are gearing up for our favourite time of the year… yeah, the Christmas ads may be already polluting our television screens and the selection boxes cluttering the shelves of our local supermarket, but fuck that for a tin of beans… it’s only 29 days to Hallowe’en, when the ghouls come out to play and we get to summon our inner demons and annoy the neighbours with some suitably spooky tunes…

And what better way to put us in the mood for this most celebratory of seasons than a slice of timely-released gothic punk ‘n’ roll? No, I can’t think of one either, which is why it is so apt that Belfast’s E.B. & The Deadlights have chosen this very weekend to take us on a trip to their ‘Unmarked Grave’, with their heaviest song yet to unveil their new line-up.

Vocalist and band founder Ethan Beattie told us a bit more about the song and the band’s slight change in musical direction:

“[It] was born after what had been a turbulent few months of various line-up changes. There was never any doubt in my mind that the band wasn’t going to continue, but it was proving to be a challenge.

“We aren’t a metal band, and if you take us as that, you could be very disappointed with what’s coming up in the near future, but this is a metal song. ‘Unmarked Grave’ is the first step into a much bigger picture that we will be sharing with you in the not-too-distant future.”

In the best tradition of those crappy TV voiceovers, we should warn you that this video contains scenes of highly choreographed graphic violence from the beginning:
