The Uber Rock Approved stampWe continue to receive a veritable tsunami of video clips – another 150+ of them in the past week alone – being sent our way in a bid to be the latest recipient of the coveted title and virtual gong of being named our favourite…

Believe me, we do watch all of the submissions, and, apart from those which don’t meet our criteria – i.e., no lyric videos, no straight performance clips and no “playthroughs” – most of them are of an extremely high quality, but there can only ever be one winner… And, to that end, this week’s selection comes from a band who prove that they are far from a Classless Act.

The LA classic rockers of the same name have taken advantage of their position opening the bill on the forthcoming Def Leppard/Motley Crüe summer US arena tour by teaming up with the latter’s infamous (and much maligned, it has to be admitted) frontman Vince Neil for this self-titled declaration of intent.

Lead singer Derek Day had this to say about the new track: “This song really is a musical expression of who we are. It’s a little dirty, maybe kinda sloppy and probably needs a good night’s sleep and a shower, and it absolutely kicks ass. Every night. Just like us.”

When asked what drew him to the song, Vince Neil explained: “These are young guys playing real rock ‘n’ roll, playing their own instruments, all that good stuff that you miss from the last 20+ years. These guys remind me of Mötley Crüe growing up and they definitely rock. Can’t wait to see what happens in the future.”

Directed by John Orphan, ‘Classless Act’ is the third video in a four-part series that loosely follows the band as they set the soundtrack for the misadventures of Farley, an unlucky soul who just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Although Neil himself doesn’t appear in the video itself, it is very much an homage to likes of the Crüe’s ‘Smoking In The Boys Room’ or Van Halen’s ‘Hot For Teacher’, especially in the performance of cheeky chappie frontman Derek Day. How the actress playing the judge managed to keep a straight face as Day jumped and bumped his way around the fake courtroom and the band pounded out this slice of classic glam-infused alt-rock is deserving of an Oscar (if they gave them for music videos… which they should, IMHO).

Classless Act release their debut album, ‘Welcome To The Show’, on 24 June. Their tour with Def Leppard, Motley Crúe, Poison and Joan Jett kicks off in Atlanta, Georgia, on 16 June.
