Chosen by Monk
We had another massive wave of videos come our way this past week – a veritable tsunami of more than 120 of them – all vying for the coveted title and virtual gong of being named our favourite… Believe me, we do watch all of the submissions, and a lot of them are of an extremely high quality, but there can only ever be one winner…
And, to that end, this week’s selection comes from Finnish pomp metallers Battle Beast, who are taking us into the ‘Eye Of The Storm’ with their striking new single, the second to be released as a taster for what is already sounding to be their hugely impressive new album, ‘Circus Of Doom’, which comes our way early next year.
Guitarist Joona Björkroth says of the single: “[It] is a song about the one thing that keeps your boat floating when the storms of the world try to sink you. It’s an empowering and uplifting song that works best with the volume turned way up to 11, so make sure to crank it up!”
The song’s lyrical theme is well reflected in the dramatized sections of the accompanying, which depict two blindfolded people trying to escape from different types of prison, both personal and physical, in order to find each other… we’ll not ruin the ending for you! Be warned, however, that the performance elements contain flashing lights:
- ‘Circus Of Doom’ is released via Nuclear Blast on 21 January. You can get your copy HERE.
- Battle Beast will follow up the album release with a European tour, which will include shows at Manchester’ Club Academy on Friday 18 February, the O2 Academy Islington on Saturday 19 February and KK’s Steel Mill in Wolverhampton on Sunday 20 February.
