NWoBHM legends Diamond Head have become the latest band to cancel planned tour dates. They had been due to play a run of headline shows, supported by Rock Goddess, from 20 January through to 5 February.
In a statement, the band said:
“It is with very deep regret that we are having to announce the cancellation of our upcoming January/February 2022 UK headline tour.
“Most of you will understand our reasoning for this, what with the current Covid climate as unstable as it is and the now in place and possible impending lockdowns in certain areas covered by the tour.
“We have decided not to postpone these dates but to cancel them all entirely at this point, we hope we can rebook them when the live landscape is much clearer without the constant threat of government restrictions.
“We apologise for leaving it so late, but we really were doing all we could to try and make this tour happen, but it’s just not feasible. There’s just too much uncertainty.
“Regarding the support shows with Saxon, if the situation and timing lends itself to these going ahead for Diamond Head we will let everyone know ASAP.
“Refunds for our headline dates are available from point of purchase and again we truly apologise to all our fans who have stuck by us and kept their tickets.
“We promise we will be back as soon as we can.
“Stay safe out there.”
As the statement intimates, it is not clear at this stage if Diamond Head’s planned run of three shows supporting Saxon on their 40th anniversary ‘Castles And Eagles’ tour at the end of this month will go ahead.
