Having had the joy of seeing Troy Redfern at Steelhouse Festival last year, and being impressed with both his personal performance and that of his band, the option to select the slide guitar wizard’s latest offering as the latest #SinglesClub #DailyPick wasn’t going to pass me by.
Telling the tale of the imaginary demon hunter of the same name’ ‘Van Helsing’ opens with trademark resonator guitar before -BANG: bass, drums, guitar hit you in the ears. It’s a lot heavier than his other stuff. Then the unusual vocal kicks in: a mix of Alice Cooper and Marc Bolan gives an unusual edginess to the performance.
It’s a really catchy track and as the final release from the album ‘Invocation‘, due for release this Friday, it’s a great introduction to what is to come.
