Today’s choice was a complete and utter no-brainer. It’s the absolutely titanic (sic) new offering from the equally huge sounding The Boat Sank. The band’s name is a reference to their native Belfast’s most (in)famous and notorious – and, it has to be said, crassly exploited – export and its fate. Yes, there was a boat, and it sank… as the band say on their rather cool line of merch: “get the fuck over it”.
One thing you won’t get over anytime soon, though, is this absolutely monumental slab of instrumental post-doom sludginess which has a groove as thick as the tar on the bed of the river on which that certain boat was built. A warning though… the accompanying video may need an understand of Norn Iron’s typically dark and self-deprecating sense of humour:
