Chosen by Monk

The Uber Rock Approved stampMy latest choice cut of prime rock’n’ roll comes from a man who will be well known to the Über Rock elite – former Last Great Dreamers singer Marc Valentine, who is preparing to ignite some ‘Basement Sparks’ with another album brimmed to overflowing with majestic power pop anthems.

‘Tyrannical Wrecks’ is the latest three minutes of glory to be released in advance of Valentine’s second album, due to appear via Little Steven’s incisive Wicked Cool Records later this month. Valentine popped into ÜRHQ to tell us a bit more about the song:

[It is] an observation of the abuse and vanity of power. It was inspired by the pandemic – when, through the lockdowns, there were different rules for the privileged, and no consequences. Their parties, networking and money-making schemes carried on as normal. They flaunted their power with disdain, as people cowered in their homes, terrified and alone. We lost so many people, and so many things, yet they gained even more power and wealth.
