Mark Lanegan, regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of his generation, has died at his home in KIllarney, Ireland. He was 57 years old.
As founder and frontman of Screaming Trees, he was regarded as one of the pioneers of the grunge movement. He went on to enjoy a successful solo career as well as a string of collaborations, most notably with Queens Of The Stone Age, Tom Dulli in The Gutter Twins and Isobel Campbell of Belle And Sebastian.
His most recent collaboration was with the Manic Street Preachers, with whom he co-wrote and performed ‘Blank Diary Entry on last year’s ‘The Ultra Vivid Lament‘.
