Artwork for Fuctifano by Peter And The Test Tube BabiesWhen I first put this album on for my first listen, I will admit I had it on in the background and was not paying my full attention. My first impressions were that it was a fun kinda happy go lucky punk album. Then I heard what they were actually saying and realized that I was very wrong. The lyrics and the music are a major contrast to each other and somehow it really works. The topics of every song are really sad and relate-able but with such upbeat music, you can’t help but smile and laugh. Absolutely fun.

What can I really say about the vocals? They are exactly what you want and expect from a UK punk band. You can hear that they were having fun with every track. ‘Ain’t Missing Her Yet’ was probably my favorite track. We have all been there where we are drinking to forget. Somehow, they manage to make it something to look back and laugh at. It is a gift some people have to take a shitty situation and lighten the mood to the point where we can laugh at the ridiculousness of it all. This is a whole album of that, and I love it.

The musical style is also dead on point for what you would expect and want. They are not blazing any new trails but instead delivering a perfectly refined example of the genre. I am not really sure what else to really say about it. It is just wonderful classic punk and it is a lot of fun. I love that they also mix in a trumpet in a couple of tracks. It adds a little of a ska flair and breaks up the album a little. It is just wonderfully put together.

If you are a fan of punk what are you still doing here? Go pick this up. If you are not a fan of punk yet make friends with someone who has better taste in music than you and go with them to pick up yourself a copy too. I don’t think that anyone won’t have fun with this. You just can’t help but smile. I did feel a little judged though when ‘Facebook Loser’ came on when I was literally opening facebook. In all seriousness, you owe it to yourself to pick this one up. It is great a good time.
