‘What’s Your Damage?’ ask Hampshire-based brutalists No Worth Of Man on the title of this, just their third EP in their eight-year career. Well, how about the complete and state of carnage in which these four tracks of unmitigated intensity have left my poor, previously unsuspecting eardrums? That’s my damage… but it’s a cost I’m happy to pay, and get my mate Dave The Builder (Bob’s second cousin once removed) to repair, just in time for me to dive straight back into the fray!
Over four tracks (plus the obligatory intro) and less than a quarter of an hour, NWOM deliver an uncompromising aural beatdown, filled with angst and fury, coupled with massive melodies and unremitting riffage that just pummels its way into the darkened recesses of your metallic soul and takes up permanent residence, fighting off the carrion picking at your decaying remains with a sawn-off shotgun filled with shells made of acid and spit.
Melding blackened melodeath with death-infused thrash coupled with gory groove, the trio show no mercy and take no prisoners with this dramatic, superbly crafted and eloquently effective mini-collection that deserves repeated listens and the utmost attention, as it more than grabs the latter with both immediacy and lingering impression.
