The two-story high artwork adorns a gable wall on the block of shops, on the city’s Great Victoria Street, which once housed Hooley’s legendary Good Vibrations record shop. It features the DJ and producer in typically defiant form, with his tongue sticking out, and bears the strapline “Big Time Punk”, a reference to the song ‘Big Time’ by Rudi, which was the first release on the record company he set up in May 1978.

Continuing the tribute, the upper floors of the adjoining shops have been repainted in bright colours, with one referencing Hooley’s most famous release, ‘Stiff Little Fingers’ ‘Alternative Ulster’.

A ‘Good Vibrations’ sign has been erected on the frontage of the unit which once housed the shop itself, along with a mural bearing one of Hooley’s most iconic sayings, “Belfast has the reason”.
