The ferocious power of the three-piece band is reminiscent of Motorhead, loud, aggressive, and monumental while the infectious riffs would put Misfire solidly in the category of the Big Four of Thrash Metal.  In fact, after the first listen, I couldn’t believe that this is a debut record. Everything falls into place like a well-oiled metal machine, so it made sense to find out that bandmates Jay Johnson (vocals, guitar) and James Nicademus (drums) had been playing together since they were teenagers.  Add in Sean Coogan (vocals, bass) who has also been paying his dues since a teenager and you have Misfire, which is something of a misnomer as this band undoubtedly is firing on all cylinders.

From the bombastic drums of ‘Fractured’ to the blistering guitars of ‘Skin of Mirrors,’ Misfire is a showcase for exactly what a great thrash band should be. They really are a complete package, and I could easily see them playing at all the huge metal festivals and fitting right in.  Their songwriting is on point with songs that will have you wanting to move. I can’t wait until I get the chance to catch Misfire live because the pits are going to be out of control.  I was sitting at my desk but couldn’t stop my head from banging and my chair from zooming around.

‘Death Trap’ and ‘R.I.P.’ are hostile bangers but with a great Megadeth type melodic feel to them.  The title track and album closer is indeed their magnum opus, an absolute metal anthem for the ages and I simply can’t get enough of it.

Prepare to be sonically violated in the best possible way with ‘Sympathy For The Ignorant.’ This one is an absolute must add to your metal collection. Crank this shit to ten and get moving!
