Artwork for Satanic Age by Lucifer Star MachineThere are very few bands who can genuinely claim to produce album after album of what can equally genuinely be described as “all killer no filler”. Albums which just grab you by the balls, hold you in their inexorable grip, not letting go for a millisecond, forcing you to involuntarily bang your head along to the magnificence of each and every song, which in turn bury themselves deep in your aural cortexes and refuse to leave (and least not without substantial amounts of bribery)… Ever since I was first introduced them almost exactly four years ago to this very day, Lucifer Star Machine have proven to be one such act, with everything they record being one solid ‘banger after another…

Summoning us into the darkened dawning of the ‘Satanic Age’ with a gleefully mischievous grin on their face, LSM deliver yet another collection of oil-soaked, whiskey-fuelled, adrenalized punk ‘n’ roll meets biker garage groove meets street metal anthems that pull no punches and take no prisoners as they say what they fucking want and then spit directly in your face (anyone who has listened to the album will immediately get that reference).

Having been first introduced to LSM via the more traditional swagger and strut of their ‘Devil’s Breath‘ album back in 2020, which saw them combining the likes of Motörhead, da Ramones and the Stones into one ingloriously homogeneous whole, ‘Satanic Age’ sees the band going down a much darker, heavier and altogether saucier route, with the emphasis on short, sharp, punchy impacts, but still combined with shit tonnes of infectious harmonies and melodies as effective as being bitten by a rabies-infused zombie.

I gleefully welcome in the ‘Satanic Age’ of rock ‘n’ roll revivalism and gladly recommended that you open your arms, your ears (and your wallets) and do likewise…
