Artwork for Chaos In Copenhagen by Kickin ValentinaThere’s a strong smell of hairspray in the room and I have the sudden desire to wear some tight spandex, which can only mean one thing – is time to review some good old sleaze rock. With this release being just an EP though, I guess you could say that it’s only a teaze of sleaze, or just the tip!

In a classic tale of rock ‘n’ roll debauchery, the story goes that this EP was recorded while on a tour stop in Copenhagen which resulted in an almost cancelled show and a drunken record label meeting which led to the decision to immediately enter the studio to record this tasty little morsel. Not bad for a few days in Denmark!

The EP itself consists of three new tracks and a live recording of ‘Get Ready’ from their show in Copenhagen and on first listen I find myself wondering whether the guys had even attempted to sober up before hitting the record button. Not because it sounds sloppy or anything, but because this short EP is packed full of alcohol-soaked energy in a headbang-inducing fashion! It’s incredibly catchy from the first few bars of opening track ‘Sweat’ and doesn’t let up as the band plough through ‘Easy Rider’ and ‘Shake Down’ before finishing up with that live recording of ‘Get Ready’, which really shows just how well Kickin’ Valentina bring their fantastic energy to life on the stage!

They say it’s not easy being sleazy but Kickin’ Valentina sure manage to make it look easy here! This is a great little taste of their balls out style and has definitely left me excited to see what’s in store in the future. Certainly, something to check out for fans of Ratt and Hardcore Superstar and all other forms of hairspray metal, but I personally think this will also appeal to those who just love to have a drunken dance in the cock rock room of their local rock club!

‘Chaos in Copenhagen’ is released on 6 December. You can get your copy HERE.
