There are a few times in life when you hear or see something and know it is immediately timeless. When the ‘Lord Of The Rings’ movies started to come out, everyone knew they were going to be a landmark in the industry and become a fundamental part of entertainment that will be pointed to for generations as a landmark for how to make an outstanding movie. I think that ‘Glare of Deliverance’ has that potential. This is a truly outstanding album with real-time and dedication put into it. It will be hard for this one to be topped and that is just talking about what is on the album itself. Combined with the fact that there is a music video for every track (or will be not all are released at the time of writing) telling the story of the album this is one of the most complete experiences I have heard in a long time. It is an experience that can totally dominate your attention.
Musically, there is so much complexity. Every note in every measure is so well selected and preformed that each instrument could stand completely alone and I would still be giving high marks but everything together wonderfully carries every emotion needed to draw you in and tell the story as well as the lyrics do. It is no simple task to make even one song stand out as well as I think this whole album does but to make every component feel equally that important takes a master of the art. Especially with how the music evolves over time expertly telling you a story whole still making every moment feel as important as the last and this is before we even get to talking about the vocals.
Vocally, we have a very similar story, everything is so expertly crafted from the traditional heavy death metal tone that makes up most of the album contrasted by a higher shouted tone down to the deeper growled tone of the Black Friar all of this contrasted by female chanting and even in one track some georgian style chanting everything comes together for a very complete experience that never gets old. With every line, the story continues keeping you absolutely invested and emotionally involved.
Most of the time when I write reviews when I am done it gets posted and I hope that people ready check out the album and make up their own mind but, in this case, I don’t think any album has gotten me as excited as I am about this one especially when hearing it was my first exposure to the band. I feel like I need to share this with everyone I know. You owe it to yourself to buy this one. Buy it for all your friends too. It is absolutely worth it. I have included the first two music videos for the first two tracks, so you don’t see them out of order. It should be enough to get your attention. I’m invested in this ride; I think you will be too.
