As widely expected, Anthrax have had to pull out of their proposed only ÜK appearance of 2021, at the Steelhouse Festival in July.
The New York thrash legends had been due to headline the Saturday night. However, in a statement issued last this afternoon (Friday 16 April), the festival organizers said that “the uncertainty over international travel coupled with the cancellation of other events in mainland Europe where Covid-related cases remain high means the band have no choice but to withdraw”.
The statement continued:
“We, along with the band and their representatives tried our very best to make it feasible for them to appear. Sadly but understandbly there just wasn’t a scenario whereby we could make this happen. However, we are certain Anthrax will appear at Steelhouse in the future.
Despite this news we want to make it clear that Steelhouse 2021 is still very much set to take place… We thank you, the Steelhouse faithful, for purchasing your tickets and making it possible for us to plan for this year’s event. Please be assured we’re doing everything we can to go forward. We figure that having us all together again making memories, celebrating our friendships and losing ourselves to the live experience in a SAFE enviroment is worth it.
“We will announce this year’s new Saturday headliner in the next few weeks. We’re very much looking forward to sharing that with you all and putting the final plans in place for what will be the most glorious Steelhouse ever…Having you all back on The Mountain guarantees that.”
