VIDEO OF THE WEEK: LOCK HORNS
The Northern Ireland scene has been very much at the forefront of our thoughts this past week, mainly due to this year’s epic Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses competition drawing to an equally epic conclusion (more on that elsewhere on the site). Two of the competitors – Armagh antagonists Astralnaut and Belfast bruisers The Boat Sank – featured as Singles Club daily picks, and so it is perhaps appropriate that our latest audio-visual treat comes from a previous winner of the contest, in the form of County Down demolition mob Lock Horns, who are taking things down to the bare ‘Skin And Bones’ with this second taster of their forthcoming sophomore album.

The theme of this weekend at ÜRHQ seems to be collaboration, as my latest audio-visual treat comes from another conjoining of forces, this time in form of dark synthwave industrialists Daedric and modern metallers Dal Av, who are #RacingTheParallel with this futuristic new offering, which comes complete with a suitably ‘Blade Runner’-inspired cyberpunk-style video:

Monk’s latest choice of audio-visual treat comes from German glam rock revivalists Kissin’ Dynamite who, after inviting us to ‘Raise A Glass’ now address their inner monsters with the second in the series of thematically-linked clips offered up as tasters for their forthcoming new album, on which they are determined to prove they are definitely, and defiantly, ‘Back With A Bang’…

Our latest audio-visual feast comes from a band who, over the course of the past 20 years, have consistently proven that classical music and metal can co-exist in raucous harmony like no other forms or genres, and continue to do so as they return to their roots with their latest album, which once again sees them re-imagining the Metallica back catalogue in their own unique style.

Our latest visual feast is truly that, and comes from alt-pop sensation Jagwar Twin, who has released the cinematic interpretation of his viral hit ‘Bad Feeling (Oompa Loompa)’ – a vivid, big-top spectacle that sees the multi-dimensional artist becoming the ringleader of his own surreal circus.

Our latest choice is something a little different from gritty Los Angeles blues rockers Dirty Honey and this tale of life of the road – co-incidentally the quartet are in the midst of their third consecutive sold out ÜK/European headline tour. ‘Coming Home (Ballad of the Shire)’ is the latest single to be lifted from the band’s current album ‘Can’t Find The Brakes’.
