These Dutch progressive hard rockers are definitely, and defiantly, more than #HalfWayThere with this powerful and evocative visual interpretation of the second single from their upcoming third album:
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, vocalist Andrew Elt (whom older readers might remember from Nineties glam rockers Sleeze Beez), told me:
‘Half Way There’ is a lyric I wrote during the Covid pandemic. I was out walking my dog and couldn’t help but notice, on my daily routine, the same guy ‘on his knees picking weeds’ in front what I assumed was his apartment. This went on for a days…
That line kinda stuck in my head and when I saw footage on the news about homeless people and the extra predicament they endured of being out on the streets, when no one was allowed to be during Covid, I had all the inspiration I needed.
The song is about the mental void a lot of people found themselves stuck in during those testing times, and also maybe still find themselves stuck in.
The main message I want to get across, as seen in the middle and at the end of the video, is that ‘there is always hope’, no matter how tough things get.
