Female artists seem to have dominating our video selections in recent weeks, and justifiably so, as they have been producing some of the most powerful combinations of audio and visual material to come our way in that period. And this week is no exception, as A.A. Williams once again combines fragility with force on this latest extract from her upcoming new album.

Speaking about the song, Williams says:

‘Poison’ is a song of learning not to fear freedom. Restraints slowly melt away, you push yourself, you long for more. Recklessness begins to consume reason, limitations are forgotten, euphoria and self-sabotage look like one and the same. Desperate to satisfy the craving you torch everything you’ve built. As the old world crumbles, and you rise, unafraid.

Immersed in a shadowy, dreamlike – or perhaps nightmarish – world where darkness meets elegance, Williams teamed up with visionary collective Gruppa13 (renowned for their work with artists like Behemoth and IGORRR) to craft a hauntingly powerful visual suspended between vulnerability and something far more unsettling:

  • Solstice‘ will be released via Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM) on 5 June.
  • A.A. Williams will tour with A Perfect Circle in June, before returning the ÜK to appear at the ArcTanGent festival on 22 August.
