Lockdowns and the effects of the global pandemic have forced artists to look upon creative output in ways maybe differently than they had either previously planned. DJ Astrocreep first encountered Alex Henry Foster in a live setting, taking to a much smaller stage than the one afforded him in this live production, in a support slot and, while the big lad often can find himself ambivalent about live albums, it was the medium he is actually more knowledgable of him in. Bearing this in mind, he decided that watching the video of the performance where he is the master of the stage and has the ability to shape it to his own performance and such was the least respect he deserved.

There is no doubt about it, but the epithet NWoCR has been one of the most emergent in recent years: but, unlike other acronyms, such as NWoBHM or NWoTHM, it is one of those which does not associate itself with just one particular style of music. Yes, it is perhaps most closely associated with the re-emergence of blues-rock and AOR-style revivalists, but it also has the advantage of being able to cover a wide range of other stylistic sub-genres, from doom and stoner to, in this case, the cheesier-than-a-block-of-cheddar Sunset Strip revivalism of the likes of Mädhouse.

Monk has to admit that the first thing that drew him to this, the latest full-length offering from the French garage rockets, was the artwork. It reminded him so much of the posters (and subsequently DVD cover art) those cheap ‘n’ nasty Cayman Classic ‘B’ movies that hold such a place in his heart, mainly because of their cheesy, “so bad they’re fucking incredible” qualities… Was this going to be the musical equivalent?
