Clearly Jase W had not had enough extended trips across the country last weekend as he decided to get himself down to Zoetermeer for a bit more tasty prog. Poppodium Boerderij acts as a sort of rite of passage for playing prog in the Netherlands, and despite it being a bit of a pain in the arse to get to, our man didn’t want to miss AVKRVST on their first European tour! Bringing Hyla along for the show tonight who have very little information available about them, he keen to see what they’d got in store for him too…

Continuing 2026 kicking off with massively stacked lineups that are making the cold of winter just that bit more bearable, this one in particular made Jase W’s lengthy trip to Tilburg absolutely worthwhile. Ukrainian prog metal stalwarts, Jinjer are finally back on the road for a headline trip around the ÜK and Europe and have two stellar support acts in tow, Unprocessed and Textures. This stacked selection of three outstanding proggy metal bands was going to be a fantastic way for our man to spend a Saturday evening!

PAGAN ALTAR ‘LORDS OF HYPOCRISY’/’MYTHICAL & MAGICAL’ (DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS)

The fact that Pagan Altar is one of the lesser known names from the NWoBHM era can most likely be attributed to the fact that they were one of the few, if not the only, band pursuing a darkier, doomier musical path than the majority of their spandex clad, double guitar wielding contemporaries. However, while they released only one album during their initial foray into the limelight, their combination of heavy doom, psychedelic prog and English folk music left a lasting legacy on the scene, arguably influencing the direction of successors such as Paradise Lost, Skyclad and Winterfylleth.
