We had another massive wave of videos come our way this past week – a veritable tsunami of more than 120 of them – all vying for the coveted title and virtual gong of being named our favourite… Believe me, we do watch all of the submissions, and a lot of them are of an extremely high quality, but there can only ever be one winner…
And, to that end, this week’s selection is just the tonic we need for this miserable time of year, the perfect antidote to the Atlantic storms and dark nights… It is the latest, totally in(s)ane and typically OTT offering from German battle/folk metallers Feuerschwanz and their rallying call for the warriors of the world to unite in this gloriously silly cover of an old Manowimp anthem. Except, on this occasion, the Teutonic titans take everything to the absolute next level, in terms of completely ripping the utter shit out of every aspect of both the song and clip…
Their latest single sees them once again teaming up with Rage Of Light/Ad Infinitum/MalefistuM vocalist Melissa Bonny – last heard and seen on the band’s previous VOTW award-winning clip, their cover of the dance anthem ‘Ding’ – alongside vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Alea der Bescheidene from fellow German folk metallers Saltatio Mortis. Perhaps rather controversially, it also features Thomas Winkler, until recently the frontman with power metallers Gloryhammer – but, we’ll not go there, shall we?
The end result is wonderful, with more ham than a pig farmer in full-blown Christmas mode and enough cheese to fill Cathedral City’s warehouses for the next year:
