Mollie Marriott is to take over as lead vocalist with the English Rock Ensemble for Rick Wakeman’s forthcoming ‘The Return Of The Caped Crusader…’ tour. The move comes after long-standing ERE singer Hayley Sanderson had to withdraw from the dates due to unforeseen circumstances.
“We’re so sorry that Hayley has to sit out this tour,” Wakeman told us, “but we’re delighted that Mollie is stepping into the breach. She comes highly recommended by many people, including Hayley herself, and there is no doubt that she will be great and fit in brilliantly.”
Daughter of the legendary Small Faces frontman Steve Marriott, Mollie has previously performed alongside other rock luminaries such as Robert Plant, The Who, Jeff Beck and Mark Knopfler. She now joins Wakeman, his son Adam, guitarist Dave Colquhoun, drummer Adam Falkner and Lee Pomeroy for next month’s run of dates, which kicks off in Glasgow on 15 February and then visits Liverpool, Manchester, Brighton, Birmingham, York, Gateshead and London before concluding in Bristol on 28 February.
The two-part show will feature a first half of new arrangements of classic YES material for band and vocalists, followed after the interval by Wakeman’s much-loved epic ‘Journey To The Centre Of The Earth’, performed in its entirety. Remaining tickets are on sale now.
