Every so often, a release comes along that contains exactly what it says on the front cover. So, if you wanted any further clues as what to expect from this latest offering from the wonderfully named Mr Thunderfuck and his bunch of reprobate Deadly Romantics, then you need look no further than the title emblazoned in bright pink letters across said cover.
‘Dirty Sleazy Rock ‘n’ Roll’ is collection of 13 songs (there’s an uncredited hidden bonus track) that do just that: dirtier than a Welsh railway track, sleazier than a back-alley preacher and delivering as much rock ‘n’ roll as you can safely consume without exceeding the legal drinking limits. But, then again, TATDR are here to ‘Drink This Party Dry’, so such limits obviously mean nothing to them, and so should not mean anything to us either!
As you would expect, there is nothing clever or fancy going on in the grooves delivered here. It’s just good old-fashioned rock ‘n’f’n’ roll played with honesty and a not inconsiderable sense of fun – something sadly lacking in many of today’s bands. Well, how can you take songs about anal sex seriously?
It’s actually hard to write a review of this album, as I can hardly see with the tears of both joy and laughter misting up my glasses. This is rambunctious, honest rock ‘n’ roll born in the gutter – and very definitely it has not lost its roots, as you can positively smell the sewage staining Thunderfuck’s cowboy boots. It’s gloriously inglorious. It’s inanely insane, and insanely inane. It’s punk contains enough spunk to have a prostitute washing her mouth out for a month. You need to let this album spray its love all over you, as you pour yourself another Jagerbomb – but, it’s not one for the road… it’s just to set you up for diving straight back in and doing it all over again.
This is rock ‘n’ roll the way it is supposed to be played. So, climb on board mofos, ‘cos that wild chick Annie is waiting to suck you off and then shit all over your preconceptions. Oh, and if you’re offended by what you hear then, as Mr TF puts it in his usual eloquent style… go fuck yourself! Like him, we don’t give a damn – we’re just here to get our holes!
