Chosen by Monk

Regular readers will know that we’ve been following, and championing, these Irish grunge-inflected sleazebags since they first sought to #Soothe our savage rock ‘n’ roll hearts a little over a year ago, and so we were obviously delighted when they uncorked (sic) this, their latest offering to the gods of the Überverse:

The track came together during the same productive weekend that birthed fan-favourite ‘Traced Out’, beginning with a hypnotic riff by guitarist Neil McEvoy, which quickly became the bedrock for the track’s brooding, blues-soaked atmosphere.

Frontman Shawn Mullen admits the song’s lyrical inspiration took a little longer to ferment:

I was totally stumped on what to say for ages… just stressing out over the simplest of melodies and lines. Then one evening I played the rough demo to my fiancée and she just goes, ‘Wine… the riff sounds like wine. Do that.’ Two hours later the lyrics were done! So yeah, the song’s about wine… and nothing more… I swear.
