Chosen by Monk

This Geordie emo-punk trio are exploring the transformative nature of relationships, which sees us both building and destroying #Castles with this latest standalone offering:

Lyricist and songwriter Nic Wood has this to say about the meaning and inspiration behind the song:

The opening of the song is about giving yourself up to your surroundings, and letting your feelings take over you. I don’t believe in God, but sometimes you experience the natural world around you, a starry night sky, or something transcendental like falling in love and you get this overwhelming feeling that you’re part of something bigger than yourself, that you’re connected to something much greater.

Unfortunately, those feelings of love and euphoria don’t always last. The song is also about how a relationship changes over time. When romantic love changes to deep platonic care it can be a really difficult thing to navigate, but finding a way to still remain friends after a break up can be so rewarding, and it’s something I’m really glad we did.
