Chosen by Monk
My latest choice sees these Brighton punks far from flatlining but once again proving how energetically they are reinventing themselves with this latest re-imagined fan favourite from their 2022 ‘Above The Static’ album:
Speaking about the new single the band told me:
‘Flatlined’ was a track that wasn’t a single first time around, but it’s one that the fans across the world have adopted as a favourite. When we play it live, it’s deafening. Whether in this format or in the original it’s a track the band love, and this version is really striking, especially the play between the two main vocals.
The band also gave some insight into their upcoming new EP, ‘Below The Static’, which features reworkings of six songs from the above-mentioned album:
For this release, we really wanted to highlight how good the songwriting was. We were stoked with how well the album went down but we really wanted to expose some of the more vulnerable elements and fuck with the format a bit. To hear such strong fxmale vocals, and having heavy guitar riffs on cellos/violins etc. really got us excited about these songs again.
Some of the versions are stripped right back to just a voice and one instrument. It’s the band like you’ve never heard it before, and really breathes a different life into the songs.
- ‘Below The Static‘ is due to be released on 13 September via Pure Noise Records.
