Chosen by Monk
With Los Angeles quite literally burning to the ground, it seems somewhat appropriate, and absurdly ironic, that my latest choice should come from one of the city’s hottest, yet also coolest, rock ‘n’ roll troupes… oh yeah, indeed \m/
The song, the lead single off the band’s upcoming second album, actually traces its roots back more than three decades, to 1993, when Slamdinistas guitarist Larry Molinare – also known for his work with the likes of The Dogs, Little Caesar and Cruzados – was touring with hell-raising punk group Texas Terri’s Baby Bird.
I showed [singer Terry Laird] the riff of the song, and she wrote the lyrics really fast. The song always spoke to me, and when I brought it into the Slamdinistas’ live shows it really hit a nerve with our fans.
- ‘Wild & Restless‘ will be released on 25 April via Rum Bar Records.
