Chosen by Monk
With your beloved ÜR being one of the few Brexit-breaking ÜK websites with a permanent presence on continental Europe, from where we continue to fire ICBMs deep into the enemy territory that is musical mediocrity, our latest selection sees us brushing up on our rather sketchy Dutch, and listen intently as this Ghent-based punk quartet use their own language to launch a vicious aural assault on the #Leugennar, or #Liar, who is the subject of their wrath.
Speaking about the song, which is taken from their upcoming debut album, the band – Helena Cazaerck (vocals and guitar), Loeke Vanhoutteghem (guitar), Sybe Versluys (drums) and Amanda Barbosa (bass) – rather cryptically told me:
‘Leugenaar’ is an absolution, a pelvis under the chin of a drooling monster waiting to be freed from a rotten tooth. Anyone expecting further explanation can go to hell.
