The Uber Rock Approved stampTheir upcoming tenth studio album is something of a closing of a chapter in the 26-year long career of these heavy psych progenitors, as it features their final recordings with late bassist Steve Kille, who lost his battle with cancer early last year.

Frontman Jason Simon told me a bit more about the song which, like a cosmic time machine set for the height of the bell-bottom era, invites listeners to either escape down sun-scorched California highways or float on a cloud of smoke, gazing into the infinite while remembering those we’ve lost:

Musically, this song started with Mark Laughlin’s beat and came together quickly from the jam that beat inspired.  For some reason we all thought the song reminded us of ‘The Magical Mystery Tour’. The lyrics took inspiration from that… So here’s an invitation to ‘The Unhounded Now’, a rare place where nothing is beeping, buzzing, and harassing you, a place where nothing is calling your attention away from where you want it to stay, a place that is not always easy to find in this day and age.
