My latest pick of the pops comes from this intriguing London alt-rock combo, who have spent most the year consolidating their new line-up and material that reflects their new steadfastness, which this new offering certainly does, living up to its name in terms of bite and spit:
The band take their name from the French expression ‘L’appel du Vide’, referring to the phenomena many experience when faced with a fearful height and the inability to resist the compulsion to jump.
Vocalist Jack Osborne elaborated:
Like a dark secret so many of us keep, the expression has always called to me, with its eerie, taboo yet relatable subject matter. Control and impulse are so much of what makes us human.
