It’s something of a hat-trick of hits for the British-born Berlin-based alt-pop artist by the real name of Annika Henderson, who is drawing a deep breath with this third and final exhalation from her upcoming new album, which will see her entering the #Abyss this coming Friday:
Speaking about the track, and how it addresses increased limits imposed on our bodies, be it reproductive freedoms or restrictions on trans rights, Anika says:
‘“Oxygen’ is about feeling trapped in your own body, in your own narrative, in your own society, within the norms and expected behaviours of this claustrophobic socially constructed world. It wants to break out of this cage, it wants to breathe, it wants to be in tune with its true self, its true feelings, sensations and desires – without restriction.
